By Service Line — Tax

Modern tax practices.
Modern tax leaders.

Tax partners, directors, and senior managers leading tax practices — compliance, planning, and the increasingly important advisory layer on top.

What we’re focused on
  • Capacity and tax-season scaling — domestic staffing, offshore models, and what actually works when volume spikes.
  • Tax automation and AI — what's in production at peer firms, what's hype, and how the preparer role is evolving.
  • Building a tax advisory practice on top of compliance — pricing, packaging, and having the conversations clients actually want.
  • Specialty tax — R&D credits, SALT, international, cost seg, and other high-value niches.
  • Realization, pricing, and per-return economics — where the margin is and where it's going.
  • Talent — recruiting pipeline, retention, and the apprenticeship model in an AI-augmented environment.
Benchmarking realization rates and per-return economics across member firms, building a shared playbook for advisory pricing on top of compliance, and comparing notes on which AI-assisted preparation tools are actually in production.
AI & Tech in This Council

Every Tax Council session includes a working block on AI and technology — what's real in AI-assisted preparation and review, which tools are in production at peer firms, how the preparer role is changing as automation absorbs transactional work, and where that automation creates advisory capacity. This is not future-state speculation; it's what firms are doing right now.

Meeting Cadence

Two working sessions per year — focused, agenda-driven, peer-led — plus a dedicated Tax track at the annual Insight summit and async member discussions in between.
